Questions

Which audio files can I import?

mp3, wav, m4a and aiff files, from the Files app. Ripeto copies the file into its own storage, so you can delete the original afterwards. Songs from Apple Music and other streaming services can't be imported, because they're protected.

How do I loop part of a song?

Tap a section in the colored bar above the waveform to loop it, and tap it again to stop. To loop several sections together, drag across them.

The sections are in the wrong places. Can I change them?

Yes. Tap Edit, then add a marker at the playhead, drag a marker to move it, or long-press it to delete it. Long-press a section to rename it. Pinch the waveform to zoom in for precise placement. Tap Done to go back to practice mode, where the markers can't be moved by accident.

The tempo or key is wrong.

Detection is usually close but not always right. Tap the BPM button to type the correct tempo, nudge it, or tap along with Tap Tempo. Tap the key button to pick the correct key. Reset brings back the detected value.

How do stems work?

Tap Stems to split a song into vocals, guitar, bass, drums, piano and other. The first time, Ripeto downloads the separation model (about 55 MB), so you need an internet connection once. Separation takes about a minute for a 4-minute song on a recent iPhone, and runs entirely on the device. Keep Ripeto open until it's done. Stems take about 30 MB per song and can be deleted from the Stems sheet.

Why can I still hear other instruments in a stem?

Separating a finished mix is never perfect, and some bleed between instruments is normal. The piano stem is the hardest to separate cleanly.

How do I send a song to a bandmate or student?

Open the song, tap the ⋯ menu and choose Share Song. The file includes the audio, sections, tempo, key and mix. When they open it on an iPhone with Ripeto installed, the song opens ready to play.

Does Ripeto work offline?

Yes. Everything works without a connection, except downloading the stem separation model the first time.

Is Ripeto available for iPad or Mac?

Not yet. Ripeto is for iPhone for now.

What happens to my data?
